Two Horses by a Stream

Chinese animal painting

A chestnut and a dappled gray horse in a meadow by a stream, under willows. Framed in silver with a wide pale mat.

The horses are painted in the fine-line, colored manner, with the dapples on the gray picked out one by one. The willows and the far bank are washed in soft green, so the animals stand forward. An inscription with two seals sits in the upper right, in the traditional way.

It is an easy, likeable picture. It goes over a desk, in a child's room, or in a hallway where something calm is wanted. The silver frame and gray mat suit pale walls best.

Glazed, ready to hang. We make no representation as to age or authorship.
