Packing

Bronzes and stone travel in foam cut to shape inside a rigid double-wall carton or, for heavier pieces, a wooden crate. The gilt-bronze figure is packed with its flames and arms individually supported. Framed works travel with the glass taped and corner-protected; hanging scrolls rolled in an acid-free tube inside a rigid case; handscrolls flat in their wrappers inside a box. The qin travels in a rigid case, strings slackened. Everything is packed by us, and we keep photographs of each piece in its packing.

Times

Within the continental United States	Ships within three working days of payment; three to seven working days in transit.
Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union	Seven to fifteen working days, including customs clearance.
Elsewhere	Quoted per shipment.

Every shipment is insured for the full purchase price from our door to yours, and every shipment requires a signature. We will not leave a piece on a porch. If you need delivery on a particular day, or to an installer or a receiver, say so when you order.

Duties and taxes

Sales tax is charged where we are required to collect it and is shown on the invoice. On shipments outside the United States, import duty, VAT and clearance fees are levied by the destination country and are the buyer's responsibility. We declare the true purchase price and an honest description on every customs form and will not do otherwise. Some countries restrict the import of ivory, certain woods and certain stones; nothing on this site is ivory, but if your customs authority has a question we will answer it.

Returns

Any piece bought without being seen in person may be returned for a full refund of the purchase price, for any reason, provided that:

1. you tell us in writing within fourteen days of delivery;
2. the piece comes back in its original packing, in the condition it left us; and
3. it is shipped within seven days of your telling us, insured for the purchase price.

Return shipping is at the buyer's cost unless the piece was not as described, in which case we arrange and pay for collection. Refunds go back by the method of payment within five working days of the piece arriving with us. Pieces reframed, mounted or fitted with stands to a buyer's specification cannot be returned unless faulty.

Damage in transit

Open the packing on the day the piece arrives and check it. If anything is damaged, keep all the packing, photograph the damage and the box, and write to us within forty-eight hours. We deal with the insurer; you deal only with us. You will be offered a repair, a replacement where one exists, or a full refund, as you prefer.
